Why is CBD so expensive? Let's analyze and discover!

Of course, one or another CBD fan has already noticed the following: In fact, you need to dig deep into your pocket for CBD products. But why is this? Why is CBD so expensive? Reason - quality comes at a price. But is this really the decisive point? Or there are other factors responsible for the high trading price of liquid gold. We got to the end of the question and were able to gain an exciting insight or two.

Watch out, let's start:

Is it all just a matter of reputation?

Especially in recent years, the markets for CBD and various hemp-containing products have recovered. In the meantime, it has become indispensable for sports enthusiasts, those who lead a healthy lifestyle, but also simply for fans of the green herb. Demand is constantly growing. But if we look at price developments in recent months, it has generally resulted in a slight fall in prices. But of course - who is surprised? You just have to look at the now endless list of providers and brands. This, of course, results in real competition. And of course, everyone wants to offer the best value for money. So what could be the real reason CBD is so expensive?

Quality (everything important) makes a difference

Indeed. All our fears have come true. We have to face the facts. Quality comes at a price! And a good, high-quality CBD product only has full-spectrum hemp extract. Because you can only feel good where the good is in it. And as the saying goes, "You are - what you eat!"

Why is CBD so expensive?

To better understand the real differences between CBD and the end product, we need to consider three different factors:

1. The hemp plant

You can taste and feel not only with good food! Proper processing is also essential for CBD products. But let’s start from the beginning: It depends above all, of course, on the hemp raw material to be treated. High quality cultivated industrial hemp from the EU, planted and inspected under strict conditions, clearly stands out from the price of pesticide-treated hemp. As with any other product, you need to dig deeper into your pocket for high quality hemp.

2. The extraction process

Here, too, there are serious differences in the prices of CBD products (especially oils). Because there are different process technologies for obtaining CBD. For example, ethanol extraction. I've never heard of it !? Then there was nothing missing. As the name suggests, ethanol is used to filter cannabinoids and terpenes. However, this method proved to be of inferior quality because harmful substances such as chlorophyll or alcohol may remain. If you find this subtraction process in the product description, please: HANDS OFF!

We have now come to the most common method of extracting CBD. CO2 extraction. Studies agree. High quality products can be obtained through this process. In addition, sustainability is not neglected. Because it is a very economical, easily accessible and safe alternative. Not only the full spectrum of the hemp plant remains present, but also other important elements. As this method takes a little more time, it also stands out from the cost of ethanol extraction. Thus, the resulting CBD can be significantly more expensive.

But is there a process that brings all the other technologies into the shadows? We would introduce: the distillation process. What may seem like an incredibly demanding operation at first is very easy to explain. Here are the step-by-step instructions:

The terpenes are first distilled off and then the cannabinoids are extracted by sonication. It is then mixed (terpenes and cannabinoids) to obtain an extract containing 80% CBD and 20% terpene. In the last step, the extract is mixed with either hemp seed oil or MCT oil in the appropriate portion. Thanks to the particularly gentle production, the valuable natural terpenes of the cannabis plant are preserved. This complex technology can significantly increase the price of CBD products.

3. The final product

In the end, this is the end product. In addition to the ingredients, the packaging is also included. In addition to hemp, many ingredients can be found in many products. Like CBD, you can use cheap or high quality raw materials. In the rarest of cases, there is a combination of both. Important is the premium quality level that offers full spectrum CBD oils with high quality carrier oils (e.g. hemp seed oil or MCT oil). Quality first.

And now who has the best CBD oil? At the best price?

There is no general answer to this. It always depends on the CBD content, the carrier oil, the extraction method and other points on how expensive the product is in the end. In any case, the quality of all brands is very high - without excessive prices. So everything is fair.

facts

The price of CBD oil is basically determined by:

- the hemp used

- method of extraction

- other costs of the final product (packaging, marketing, storage ...)
