The CBD and cannabis industries are constantly evolving. Countless manufacturers and producers have entered the market. However, the regulation has not yet reached the real needs, so there is no uniform, described rule for determining the CBD active ingredient content for a product. Thus, we must rely on the information of manufacturers, producers and traders.
This is the point where we need to be very careful. We can see very high mg numbers in large packagings and we can also see high mg numbers in very small packaged products. In fact, we often come across percentages.
The basic premise is that big and many are not always more! Let's look at the reasons for this:
- the percentage indicates the percentage of CBD in the total product: therefore, for a 10% CBD product, it can be said that the CBD in that product is 10% and the carrier is 90%. This is basically still not saying anything to a consumer!
- mg: this value shows how many milligrams of CBD are present in a given product: so a 10% product contains 1000 mg of active substance and a 5% contains 500 mg. Formulated:% * 100 = mg (10% * 100 = 1000mg, 5% * 100 = 500mg, 15% * 100 = 1500mg). It is very important that the given mg content applies to the whole product on the label:
So: if the CBD label of a 30 ml bottle says 1000 mg, it means that 30 ml TOTAL contains 1000 mg. While for a 10 ml bottle, 10 ml contains 1000 mg of CBD.
Why is it important to know these numbers?
The answer is to be found in the mg content of the drops. Well, all manufacturers use different types of droppers, but since these are usually standard products, nearly the same number of drops can be obtained using any pipette (recently, pipettes with a balance of ml are starting to spread, which is a great help in dosing).
Generally, as most manufacturers and retailers state in the product description, a 10 ml bottle contains about 250-300 drops. And here comes the formula above:
if you consume 10 drops of 10 ml / 1000 mg of oil a day, the formula is:
1000mg / 300 drops = 3.33333 mg / drop, representing a daily intake of 33.3333 mg CBD
if the same oil is in a 30 ml / 1000 mg package, the formula changes as follows:
1000 mg / 900 drops = 1.111111 mg / drop, which means a daily intake of 11 mg CBD.
The difference is significant, isn't it? Always pay attention to these numbers because in the former case we pay for the CBD, in the latter case for the hemp seed or mcl oil. And the expected effect may fall short!
